Life on the east bank

On the Blackwood river at east Augusta nestles Junipers' East Bank Studio, a cosy and romantic cabin for two.

From the doorstep (a half-minute from the river) you can explore the tranquil and isolated east bank, bushwalking, beachcombing, bike riding or simply messing about in a boat.

East Augusta is just 30 minutes south of Margaret River, but a world away with its laidback ambience, reminiscent of the 'old days' at Rottnest Island.

Tree-lined limestone roads, beach, river and jetty fishing and the unique bird life of the Swan Lakes all contribute to the enchantment of life on the East Bank.

The East Bank Studio, which adjoins the main building, echoes the design of Sue and Geoff Junipers' Mediterranean-style house on the banks of the river.

Both are open-plan and boast a superb collection of original prints and paintings and the garden terrace of the house, with its magnificent views up the river, is the perfect spot for the Junipers to entertain.

The studio offers a fully-equipped kitchen, colour TV and video, radio/cassette/CD player, a charming wood fire and an outdoor area with barbecue.

Breakfast for a two-night stay is included in the tariff and you'll find a complimentary bottle of Cape Mentelle wine in the fridge.

The queen-sized bed has been quoted as the most comfortable ever slept in. Linen, towels and bathrobes are provided.

If all this pampering and privacy prove too much, your hosts are at your disposal for the two-minute trip across the river where you can explore Augusta, an idyllic 'SeaChange' town with superb tourist attractions including a museum, lighthouse, a coastline both wild and tranquil, gourmet shopping, craft galleries and a coffee shop overlooking the river.

The Junipers offer private and secure parking for your car at Augusta and will bring you across the river for your stay at the East Bank or, if you like, you can drive all the way to the studio on Sue's Road, a new super highway from Ludlow (north of Busselton).
