The Thelymitra species, the
sun orchids, display their vivid flowers on warm and sunny days
and rarely open in cool and cloudy conditions. They lack a labellum
that other orchids exhibit, but in its place have a perfectly
formed third petal like their distant relative, the lilies. Grow to 70cm high. 4-15 bright flowers on a tall spike. FLOWERS: September-November. Later in wet forests. DISTRIBUTION: Jurien Bay to Albany. NEXT |
